Busy week

It has been over a week since my last post, my flock. It always weighs heavy on my soul when the congregants of Pug Life Ministries are forced to go a prolonged period without my divine guidance, especially in these trying times. But as you can see in the photos below, I have been rather busy.

In addition to the marathon puggyback napping sessions that Wendell and I have engaged in (and they truly are a daily occurrence), here is a recap of some of the events that escaped my blogging attention:
  • Wendell recently went under the knife, at the urging of our veterinarian and the great Game-Show Prophet Bob Barker, peace be upon him. Perhaps Wendell's recent outbursts of violence served as a reminder to our parents that the time was right. Or maybe the operation had already been scheduled. In any case, young Wendell recovered quickly from this unkindest cut. As soon as he returned to the ayatollah compound, he proceeded to dash around like a madpug, showing no ill effects whatsoever from this surgery that surely would have felled a human male for days on end. If anything, Wendell seemed to be faster and more energetic, no longer weighed down by any unnecessary appendages. Like yours truly, Wendell appears to be plenty virile to overcome such surgical intervention.
  • I met with members of Congress and the Treasury Department this week to lobby for $300 tax rebates for each canine family member in America. Sadly, because of this country's entrenched bias against dogs, the Washington establishment rejected my pleas and agreed only on payments for human children. The infidels. Someday, under the glorious blue skies of Pugistan, they will learn the error of their ways.
  • Finally, I have been busy making arrangements for a hastily planned vacation. This entailed, among other things, buying plane tickets, making lodging arrangements, checking on train schedules, and, of course, ensuring that I will have a security team and entourage befitting my stature as leader of the world's largest interfaith, interspecies ministry. In less than a month, I will set paw in Venice as I embark on a long-awaited Italian holiday. Praise Allah! Let us pray that the acqua alta does not force me to put my superb dog-paddling skills to use.

Seeing that Wendell and the ayatollah are inseparable, can we assume that Wendell will also blog from Venice? We eagerly await Wendell's unique perception of Italy.

Wendell is eager to blog, so perhaps his language skills will be up to snuff by then. He has been making great strides and expanding his vocabulary at a rapid pace. His spelling is also much improved. He now understands the meaning of B-A-T-H, despite what the humans may think.

Now I know where they get the expression "dog pile". It looks like a good thing. Have a safe trip.

*gasp* MY HUSBAND. Where IS your sleeping turban? Also... really Wendell needs to stop copying me and my sleeping patterns when I am with you. I mean SERIOUSLY. How Jealous can he get?

We concubines are willing to give Wendell a Puggy BATH anytime he would like it - especially now that he has been snipped.

Thank you for fighting the good fight - hopefully Pugistan will be here soon.

Btw - are we going with you to Venice? You need to be the proper casanova you know.

Having just returned from my Italian sojourn, I can assure you that Venice is very dog friendly. I saw many dogs wearing very smart sweaters and coats while walking their humans. The dogs I saw availing themselves of the many vaporettos were carried by their humans or were safely ensconced in the seating area of said contraption.
Are you participating in Carnvale?

My husband. On second reflection of the two photos... you look mighty upset that Wendell has decided to sleep on top of you?!

Is it that bad at the compound?

Thank you, Anonymous One.

Sorry, Aine. There is no room on the flight for concubines. It might intrude upon our search for Bella Italia. And I believe you have mistaken sleepiness for unhappiness. I am quite content to have my brother nearby.

I believe Carnivale will be over by the time we arrive, TransplantedOkie. But I'm looking forward to checking your blog for pointers.

tollahmugsy...please do something about that Human children only rebate...gee it's so not fair...especially to those of us who have no human children on our household.

It's very uncanny, Mugsy, that you and I both are living parallel lives (well, I'm not a world famous cleric or anything, but other then that) ...

My younger black pug brother, Flyer, also underwent the knife recently, and like Wendell, it didn't phase him one bit, which was unfortunate for Ranger and I.

And, admittedly, he does like sleeping on top of me as well during nap times. Strange coincidences, don't you think, or just perhaps pug nature.

Keep your turban wrapped tightly, Mugsy, or else these wicked Texan winds that we've been having lately might unveil something the rest of the world might not be ready to see.

How sweet! My black female also piggybacks her naps on my fawn male. We just say that it's another great thing about pugs - they are stackable!
