Art-filled day

I come to you today from under a Tuscan sun, my flock, although it is somewhat obscured at the moment by rainclouds. This morning, I visited the world-famous Uffizi art gallery, and then I traveled north to the Accademia gallery, where I saw Michelangelo's David. Never before had I been so impressed by the sight of a naked man, my flock. Let me amend that. Never before had I been impressed by the sight of a naked man. But it was truly a marvel -- it must have stood 20 feet above the floor.

Of all the wonders I have seen in Italy, one sight still eludes me. I have yet to spot an Italian pug. Tomorrow, Wendell and I will travel to Pisa in hopes of salvaging this trip. And perhaps we will offer some architectural advice on a certain crooked tower. Allah be with you.

What? No pugs? Perhaps you can strike an accord with the famous Italian Greyhounds, they also have long skinny legs like brother wendell.

I did a little research just now and learned that Italy's top dog is the mutt. Beware, Mugsy, most Italian dogs don't get fixed until they're 10 months old (hence the mutts).

I also learned that Italians like big purebreds. Now that just doesn't make sense. I mean, how can you possibly drive with a big dog in a tiny Italian car?

Then again, that could explain Italian driving.

David was magnificent as were the Prisoners in the gallery prior to that. Be sure to climb to the top of the duomo - the view is incredible!

Wendell still has the long legs, Lucy, but he is beginning to fill out. Must be all the pasta.

Indeed, Sarah O., I ministered to many a mutt in Italy.

We did scale the Duomo, TransplantedOkie, and I must agree.

Thank you, Nevis. I did.

It is hard to say, as I like many aspects about Italian culture, Anonymous One. The Italians seem to place a great deal of importance on creating an enjoyable urban environment -- striving for beauty strictly for beauty's sake -- and this is one aspect that I enjoy. You'll find statues, fountains and paintings in the most unexpected of places, and there are countless piazzas where canines can gather and enjoy themselves. And then, of course, there's the food.
