Mystery solved

Assalamu alaikum, my flock. I would like you to meet my new little brother, Wendell. Like me, he is a pug. But he is black, and I am fawn, so hopefully my parents will not get us mixed up (I think my food portions are bigger). I must admit that young Wendell came as a surprise; mother didn't even appear to be showing. In fact, I had come to suspect the worst after analyzing the clues gathered by Sherlock Bones regarding my parents' recent odd behavior.

Sherlock found a series of suspicious photos on mother's camera that, combined with her unusual cellphone record and ATM withdrawals, led me to suspect her of infidelity. But just as I was about to call father and tell him that I believed mother was seeing a younger man -- a much younger man -- mother walked in the door clutching little Wendell. "Ayatollah," she said, "meet your new brother!"

I took to him immediately, my tail wagging like the windshield wipers set on high. I am looking forward to taking Wendell under my wing and teaching him the tricks of the pug trade -- notably the vaunted "pugtona," our distinctive circular sprinting technique. He must also learn to boost his snore volume and speak with a gruff, pleasing-to-the-ear bark. But there will be plenty of time for that later. The excitement at the ayatollah compound has proven exhausting, so for now, we shall nap.

That nap picture is the most precious thing I have ever seen. You are truly a benevolent leader to welcome young Wendell into your home with such grace.

Thank you, all. I must also teach him to stop trying to chew on power cords, lest my blogging station be rendered useless.

My parents say he looks like a Wendell, Aine. I tend to agree.

Congrats Ayatolloh! A follower that you can completely brainwash, given that you will be the first real influence he ever know. May the heathens and chew toys grow to fear. I wish I had a sibling.

Congratulations, Bro. Mugsy and family! Mama said tell you your pictures made her happy feelings soar and that hasn't happened much recently. The promise of a new puppy, knowing how much he'll love you guys and be loved in return, is such a happy event.

"A new cleric in training!" LOL!! Our experience has been that the older, wiser cleric is definitely the #1 best teacher for a young whippersnap. When Wendell looks like he's contemplating a social faux pas, just give him your best evil-eye gaze...he will want to impress you with his behavior.

I must apologize for the bad grammar of my previous post, but some people object to commenting during work hours (they are called bosses). I went to a soothsayer and he told me of "evil growing stronger and likely to overcome the good." I think he is referring to Oklahoma looking like a near lock to beat Texas this year. Is there anyway that you can sabotage your Sooners so that this catastrophe may be avoided?

Wendell is soooo cute. The cuddling picture is adorable. You'll be a great big brother, Mugsy.

Will Wendell be writing his own blog or just helping you with yours?

Mugsy, please check your emails for an important missive I've sent you at the request of my mother. No wonder they call me a mama's boy around the neighborhood!

Cute pug brother, btw!

How wonderful! I am so happy for you Mugsy! You and Wendell are going to be in for some good times!

Pancho said...

Congratulations, Oh Great One. That new pug sure does look delicious... er... I mean "cute."

So how does that work, exactly? Is it like the Jedi program? Is he considered an apprentice until such time that he can actually perform functions vital to the ministry?

Will he become a "property" to be marketed so cleverly, such as yourself?

Squirrels outside. Gotta go.

Oh my pug,oh my pug!! What a cute baby. Conpugulations. We be so excited for you we be spinning in circles. We agree he looks like a Wendell.

Ayatollah Mugsy said...

Thanks, all. The bitter apple on the power cord seems to be working.

Wendell must first learn to shake hands, roll over, and read English and Arabic before he can consider starting a blog of his own, so we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I do not want to pressure him into entering the ayatollahhood; he must make his own decision when the time is right. Though I confess I have been surreptitiously piping my sermons into his crate while he sleeps.

Ayatollah Mugsy said...

Sorry, Winston. It appears that nothing can stop the almighty Sooners this year. Allah is on their side.
